sweet Vancouverites*

had to share this encounter with ya'll

okay!!

let me set the scene (and invoke envy):

Martijn & I (and others) had just gotten off a tour boat. We had spent the day cruising in Abel Tasman Park-- doing a beach clean up, swimming, sunning ourselves, and learning about the marine reserve-- and we were standing on the beach (where we were dropped off) yapping before heading home.

As we were talking this man came up and asked us about the boat tour, he was looking into going on one, and he saw us disembarking. I had noticed him sitting on a bench sort of listening to our conversation. He had a baseball cap with San Fransico on it, so I assumed he heard my North American accent.

It turns out he is from VANCOUVER! We traded the common travel stats: how long here? how long travelling? Where you been? etc. BUT..........

.......within about 5 minutes of our conversation he asked me if I had heard about BERTUZZI!!!!! Friggin love you hockey fans! A sign of a true Canadian!!!
As it turned out I had, as a hockey fan friend (Calvin) had emailed me the latest. Yes folks I am a Canucks fan thru and thru. It was the best, standing on a beach, a gorgeous beach, having a little hockey talk.

And there you have it!
My first Vancouverite!!!

You See, Like needles in a haystack, beat the bushes and its amazing what comes out. I still like seeing your smiling face on the blurb, blog sorry, St patricks day ... a neighbour came by in the late PM having had a ballyhoo earlier and still pumped... wanting to have a nightcap and ready to tell his tales of adventure. had to say its bedtime and I'll take a raincheck when he's in less pain, as he painlessly swayed on the porch.

Look forward to your odes to the apple, coming from one of edens gardens.

Later babe

Hey sweetness, I have been lax in my correspondance with everyone as of late as the restaurant takes up all of my time. I had avery similar experience in Costa Rica, met a Vancouverite in a bar on the beach, talked hockey for a while, then had to explain hockey to a couple of Ticos. Great. Glad to hear you are doing well. We miss your smiling face. Bought a new mountain bike, got a puppy, life is good. Later, Jeff
